The WorldWide Expert held the annual international conference on "Trade Finance 2012". Among the speakers of the seminar were the leading trade finance market specialists from different countries.
The conference was attended by over 150 representatives of banks, trade and insurance corporations, government authorities, international financial institutions, as well as trade media of the twelve countries of the world.
The keynotes of the seminar were the mutual expectations of banks and export credit agencies (hereinafter - the "ECA"), and ways of achieving the best results of cooperation. Speakers presented their views on the recent changes in the markets of Russia and CIS countries, as well as trends and everyday problems of trade finance. The conference helped participants to understand the situation of the market better, find new partners and to outline strategies for the short-term.
The Managing Partner of Russian office of Integrites, Roman Kryvosheyev and the Head of Trade and Project Finance Department, Anna Todchuk, were delegates of the Conference. According to the delegates, special attention was also focused on the introduction of the new global, voluntary regulatory standards on bank capital adequacy, stress testing and market liquidity risk, “Basel III”.
Mr. Kryvocheyev noted that the growth of trade finance market is quite active today and the volume of trade finance was increased in 2009. That results in a number of difficulties associated with the rise in costs of raised for trade finance, poor financial condition of borrowers. Within active foreign trade, in particular, Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan, they require immediate resolution, what’s why it is necessary to be in the picture of current trends and be able to choose the most efficient way for implementing successful finance of trade transaction, or long-term project. Moreover, Mr. Kryvocheyev noted that for the majority of the ECA’s Russian market remains the most significant in the overall portfolio insurance.
"From the point of view of the analysis and forecasting of the major trends that are taking place in the area of trade finance, it is inevitable to hold such conferences. It was useful to learn more from the ECA and the major players in Banking sector about their current appetites for risk, the demand for trade finance in the markets of Russia and the CIS, as well as pricing principles and the harmonization of the borrower evaluation. Besides it was also fruitful to discuss details regarding the changes in the cost of financing in the last year due to the eurozone crisis, by establishing personal contact with the representatives of the ECA"- commented Ms. Todchuk.
Ms. Todchuk also noted that in the course of dialogue with the representatives of the European ECA, and Russian and Ukrainian banks we managed to find new areas for cooperation, and to discuss potential joint projects with several ones.
