Rashid‘s practice focuses on transnational corporations, industry and financial institutions, and he regularly represents the interests of a number of large international and Kazakhstan clients.
Rashid has extensive experience working on large, complex cross-border transactions and mergers and acquisitions, and represents local and foreign corporate and financial clients in transactions involving the acquisition or disposal of enterprises in several jurisdictions both inside and outside Kazakhstan. Rashid accompanies clients from such diverse industries as the banking sector, oil and gas, mining, retail and consumer sectors, aviation and electronics in multi-billion transactions requiring new approaches. His practical experience attracts large clients, including multinational corporations and well-known financial institutions.
Rashid is an English and Kazakh lawyer. In 1998, he graduated from the Kazakh State Law University (Almaty) with honors, and then received a master’s degree in petroleum law and politics from the University of Dundee (1998-1999). Rashid qualified as a solicitor of England and Wales, was engaged in academic training at the law school BPP (London), and then two years of probation at the London office of the international law firm Norton Rose.
Rashid worked nine years as a Managing Partner in a leading regional law firm, where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, subsoil use (oil and gas and mining), corporate, commercial and financial law. As Partner and Head of PwC Kazakhstan Law Practice, Rashid was involved in the legal practice of PwC in Kazakhstan and the Eurasia Region (Central Asia and the Caucasus).
The list of clients also includes Kookmin bank, Samsung, Deutche Bank, EBRD and many others.
