Two day event, including an Oxford-style debate and practice rounds of the Ukrainian Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Pre-Moot, was held in Kyiv at the premises of the ICAC at the UCCI. The participants of the debate discussed issues raised in the 26th Vis Moot Problem – extent of powers of an arbitral tribunal, and admissibility of evidence in international arbitration.
In the first panel, Krystyna Khripkova, Senior Associate, International Arbitration practice at INTEGRITES, argued against the motion “The Tribunal shall have the powers not only expressly granted by the Parties” and participated in the discussion with her opponents.
The second penal debated on the motion: “Illegally obtained evidence shall not be admissible in international arbitration”, and was moderated by Olena Perepelynska, Partner and Head of the CIS Arbitration practice at INTEGRITES, UAA President.
Next day, Olena Perepelynska and Krystyna Khripkova acted as arbitrators during practice rounds of the Ukrainian Vis Pre-Moot for the Ukrainian and foreign teams. The Vis Moot is the largest moot in the world which is aimed at promoting international commercial arbitration as a means of resolution of international business disputes.
