Olena Perepelynska

Olena Perepelynska is a Partner and Head of the CIS Arbitration Practice at INTEGRITES.

Perepelynska is a recognized expert in the field of international commercial arbitration, litigation and international trade. Olena’s 16 years’ experience of legal practice includes representation of clients in dozens of complex, quite often multi-jurisdictional, arbitration and litigation matters, contract drafting and contractual schemes, advising on performance and termination of contracts, as well as on commercial activity in general.

Since 2003, Perepelynska has represented clients in more than 85 arbitrations under the Arbitration Rules of the ICC, LCIA, SCC, SCAI, ICAC at CCIRF, ICAC and MAC at UCCI, GAFTA, FOSFA, LMAA, UNCITRAL and others. The arbitrations related to a wide range of legal issues, including disputes under contractor agreements, international sales, construction and operation of vessels, agency and distribution agreements, joint venture projects, supply of telecommunications equipment and services, insurance contracts, maritime and trade commodities disputes, and corporate clashes. Olena Perepelynska acted as an arbitrator, both as a sole and presiding arbitrator, in more than 30 arbitrations.


Master of International Law, Institute of International Relations of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv;

Diploma in International Arbitration from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK);

ICC Advanced Arbitration Academy for Central & Eastern Europe.

Olena Perepelynska has started legal practice in 2003 and worked in the top Ukrainian law firms, including Vasil Kisil & Partners and Sayenko Kharenko.

Olena Perepelynska is the President of the Ukrainian Arbitration Association, Alternate Member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR, President of the Polish-Ukrainian Chapter of the Spanish Arbitration Club, Board Member of the Russian Arbitration Association, Member of TIAC Court of Arbitration, Member of ICC Central and Eastern European Arbitration Group (ICC CEEAG), Member of the Global Steering Committee of the ERA-PLEDGE and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb). In 2006, Olena was admitted to the Ukrainian Bar.

Recent experience

✓ represented the UK-based Jereh's exclusive official dealer for Ukraine MOSTON Properties Limited in a USD 8 million LCIA arbitration against the largst gas production company in Ukraine PJSC UkrGasVydobuvannya; she prevailed on both the main claim and the counterclaim; later on she successfully represented the client before the Ukrainian courts of all instances in recognition and enforcement proceedings;

✓ represented a Ukrainian state enterprise in three inter-related ICAC (Kyiv) arbitrations with over USD 60 million at stake, initiated by Russian chemical giant; she prevailed in all three cases;

✓ represented a leading Ukrainian steel works in USD 1,5 million arbitration against the Russian buyer under the Swiss rules; the tribunal granted 100% claims of her client, and rejected all respondent’s objections regarding reduction of penalties;

✓ represented a leading steel plant in Ukraine in a multimillion multi-party LCIA arbitration, where she has prevailed on a defence of limitation having proved that part of the claim was barred; as a result, the tribunal reduced the amount of the claim by USD 7 mln;

✓ represented a leading steel plant in Ukraine in multimillion multi-party SCC arbitration, initiated by a foreign steel trader; the initial penalty claims against her client were reduced by over 70%.

✓ represented an oil trader in ICAC (Russia) arbitration initiated by a Russian oil giant; the case was settled to the benefit of her client;

✓ advised one of the largest supermarket chains in Ukraine in USD 25 million litigation in Cyprus and Ukraine, which was settled for the benefit of her client;

✓ representing a Ukrainian state enterprise in ICAC(Kiev) arbitral proceedings against one of the largest Russian chemical company with over USD 190 million at stake;

✓ representing a leading steel plant in Ukraine in a multi-party ICC arbitration arising out of loan agreement with over USD 180 mln at stake;

✓ acting as advisor in Ukrainian law issues in the USD 2 billion litigation before the High Court of London between a Ukrainian politician and his former business partners in one of Ukraine's largest industrial groups;

✓ advising a steel plant in Ukraine regarding litigation in Cyprus with over USD 40 million at stake;

✓ representing Swiss grain trader in GAFTA arbitration against another Swiss grain trader;

✓ advising a shareholder of a leading Ukrainian agricultural company regarding litigation in the BVI with over USD 20 million at stake;

✓ advising a Swiss grain trader regarding fraud & conspiracy litigation in Cyprus against Ukrainian agricultural group and its UBO;

✓ representing a Swiss company in a USD 55 million ECHR proceedings arising out of a landmark Ukrainian litigation.
