Volodymyr Rudnychenko moderated and delivered a speech during the workshop of the Association of the Attorneys of Ukraine “Amendments to the criminal proceedings. Will the life change?”

On April 17, 2018 Kyiv hosted the workshop “Amendments to the criminal proceedings. Will the life change?” the organizer of which was the Association of the Attorneys of Ukraine with the support of INTEGRITES.

During the discussion Volodymyr Rudnychenko, Counsel and Head of White Collar Crime Practice at INTEGRITES, commented the issue related to the limitation of term for “factual” criminal proceedings, mentioning that such amendments shall not be for the benefit of the Client’s interest and on the contrary, they will have even more negative impact than calling for expertise through the court. He also mentioned that lack of terms for criminal proceedings is not a positive issue.

The event was attended by the representatives from the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv, judges from the district courts of Kyiv city who discussed issues related to the actual date when the amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code entered into force, challenges related to the calling for expertise objectiveness by the investigating judge as well as whether the term for the “factual” criminal proceedings should be established and if it should, then for what period.
